1.Design work for another 24 kilometres of new river channels are under way, including the upper reaches of Kam Tin River, Ngau Tam Mei drainage channel and San Tin drainage channel.
2.According to continuity equation of Saint_Venant, and based on the old corresponding rising difference model, the paper developed a new model of channel flood realtime forecasting.
3.Based on the analysis of satellite images of various periods, landform data and river channel transverse section evolution in the lower Yellow River, the characteristics of the river channel boundary condition changes at different location are clarified as middle flood channel flood transport width and area are evidently decreased especially for the main channel with comparison to 1950s, beach area that is unimpeded before become blocked because of road, irrigation channel constructed on it, and consequently intensify high edge of beach and lowering dyke and river.

6.Based on practical engineering operation experiments in the downstream region of the Yangtse River, an unsteady coupling model on water quantity and quality was set up to accomodate the river networks influenced by tidewater. In the model hydro-dynamic and convection-diffusion equations were separately solved by the numerical Preissmann implicit difference format and upwind implicit scheme. Forthermore connection on the river-node concentration and the calculation on boundary concentration were improved.
7.An eec-engineering simulation test with hydroponic economic plants was made in 1993 tocontrol the pollutants in river courses of Taihu Lake. The results show that with theseplants, the removal rates of TN, TP. NH+-N, COD and turbidity are respectively84. 17.83. 75,87. 99,71. 86 and 86. 53%, which supplies effective way to control the pollutants in river courses of Taihu Lake.
8.During the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, on the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the lower reaches of the Yellow River, and on the Huaihe, Haihe, Songhua and Liaohe rivers and Lake Taihu, the main dikes were heightened and reinforced, waterways were cleaned up, and flood diversion projects were built. The construction of a group of key projects for water control and other uses were completed or started.
9.Abstract: In order to caluculate the movement of flow and sediment in curved,narrow and long channelshe body-fitted coordinate is introduced.By regional transformation,arbitrary physical domains may be transformed into regular computational fields.A new model of suspended transport is also developed,it can describe the exchange mechanism between suspended load and bed materials.The comprehensive model is verified by observed data at Jiulongtan in the Yangtze River.
