1.Any of a breed of merino sheep of French origin, raised for wool and meat.
2.The homology analysis of the GH gene of sequences by Clustal W software indicated that the nucleotide sequence homologies of GH gene of Boer goats were 98.5% with Tokara goats,97.0% with Merino sheep,and 95.4% with bovine GH genes;
3.For primer 2-4, genotypes KK and KL were detected in German Mutton Merino sheep, three genotypes (KK, KL and LL) were detected in other four sheep breeds.
4.For primer 2-2, three genotypes (GG, GH and HH) were detected in Dorset and German Mutton Merino sheep, genotype GG was detected in other three sheep breeds.
5.The Statistic results showed that in Hu sheep, German Mutton Merino sheep, Small Tail Han sheep, Suffolk sheep and Dorset sheep, frequency of A allele were 0.672, 0.786, 0.846, 0.857and 0.867 respectively, frequency of B allele was 0.328, 0.214, 0.154, 0.143, and 0.133 respectively.
6.In Hu sheep,German Mutton Merino sheep,Small Tail Han sheep,Suffolk sheep and Dorset sheep,the frequency of allele A was 0.672,0.786,0.846,0.857 and 0.867,respectively,and the frequency of allele B was 0.328,0.214,0.154,0.143,and 0.133,respectively.
7.Single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) of BMPR-IA gene was detected in both high fecundity sheep breeds (Small Tail Han and Hu sheep, respectively) and low fecundity sheep breeds (Dorset, Texel and German Mutton Merino sheep, respectively) by PCR-SSCP.
8.Single nucleotide polymorphisms of INHBA gene were detected in both high fecundity sheep breeds (Small Tail Han sheep and Hu sheep) and low fecundity sheep breeds (Dorset sheep, Texel sheep and German Mutton Merino sheep) by PCR-SSCP.
9.Bone morphogenetic protein receptor IA(BMPR-IA) gene was studied as a candidate gene for the prolificacy of sheep. Single nucleotide polymorphism of BMPR-IA gene was detected in both high fecundity breeds(Small Tailed Han sheep and Hu sheep) and low fecundity breeds(Dorset sheep,Texel sheep and German Mutton Merino sheep) by PCR-SSCP.
