2.In order to understand better the epidemiological features of cardiovascular disease(CVD) in China,the Beijing Heart,Lung and Blood Vessel Medical Center proposed and organized a multiprovincial collaborative study in 1984,with the aim of monitoring trends and determinants of CVD by using the methodology and criteria of WHO MONICA project. The total population monitored was around 5 million.
