2.STUDIES ON TRANSMISSION OF LONGAN WITCHES′ BROOM BY TESSARA TOMA PAPILLOSA DRURY
4.Based on the indoor inoculation test conducted from 1996 to 1998,the characteristics of transmitting phytoplasma by Halyomorpha picus associated with paulownia witches′ broom were compared between insect groups (adults and nymphae) of reared pathogen acquisition (RA) and naturally pathogen acquisition (NA).
5.Partially purified mycoplasma like organism (MLO) preparations were obtained from diseased paulownia with witches’ broom (PWB). EcoR Ⅰ Hind Ⅲ digested fragment of the total DNAs extracted from the preparations was ligated into pGEM 3Zf (+) vector. The recombinant molecules were transformed into Escherichia coli strain DH5α.
6.The survey and pathogen identification of diseases on the roots and stems of arecanut (Areca catechu) were carried out on 13 cities/counties in Hainan Province, including Danzhou, Chengmai, Qiongshan, Wenchang, Lingshui, Qionghai, Wanlin, Baoting, Qiongzhong, Wuzhishan, Baisha, SanYa and Ledong from April to June 2003~2005. A total of 6 categories including 21 diseases and aerophytes were discovered, among which 8 were fungus diseases, 4 physiological disorders, 3 lichens, 4 ferns, 1 parasitic disease, and 1 unknown (witches broom).
