eddy spectrum
2.In this paper, the various spectral elements of 500 hPa height in the Southern Hemisphere arecalculated using the 500 hPa grid point height from May 1972 to December 1987,including themonthly mean circulation, zonal kinetic spectrum, meridional kinetic spectrum, transport of thedisturbance angular momentum, and the conversion rate from eddy kinetic energy to mean kineticenergy, under the condition of geostrophic approximation.
3.It shows that as an analysis method of comprehensively processing whirl signals of rotors, the full spectrum can clearly deal with the relationship between the orbits and positive/negative eddy. Through the simple conversion, we can also identify the turning intention of the rotors, and it is a very practical analysis tool for fault diagnosis of rotary machinery.
4.It is then found from the wave spectrum and mechanism of kinetic energy parameters that such oscillation is behavior of extra-long-wave activity in energy cycle. The primary process consists in the peak value of kinetic energy conversion occurring 3—4 days after the eddy energy has attained a peak one and in another 3—4 days the zonal average kinetic energy exhibits the same one.
