2.The heredity of tree type and tree height of compact pear selections, S_2, S_3, S_4 and S_5, which is the seedlings of Jin-xiang-li, was analysed. In the testcross of these selections with Bartlett the hybridprogeny sepregated into vigorous and compact trees.
5.Three indica male sterile lines, K-qing A, K19A, and K17A, have been bred successively by using sterile plants from the progeny of a hybrid cross between japonica and indica as cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) gene donor.
