multicomponent distillation
1.Based on the Murphree point efficiency model for multicomponent distillation developed by Krishna et al. , the possibility of the bizarre behaviour appearing simultaneously for more than one component Murphree point efficieneies and the relationship between the extreme value of axial concentration profile and the bizarre behaviour are analyzed.
2.Thus, the method has overcome the shortcomings of Underwood formula, and provides a sound basis for short-cut design of multicomponent batch distillation column.
3.The design strategies proposed were applied to design the distillation column for ideal and non-ideal multicomponent systems and the result shows that the stage composition lines method is better than Fenske-Underwood shortcut method and conforms to the simulation results of Aspen plus.
