1.Derived from empirical data on colleges and universities,the“Carnegie Classi- fication”was published for use by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education in 1973,and it was subsequently revised in 1976,1987,1994,2000 and 2005.Different to the previous editions,the 2005 edition contains basic categories as well as new categories of higher education institutions.
