1.Self─consistent charge discrete variational Xα cluster method (SCC─DVM ─Xα) is used to calculate the conduction electron densities of metals. Comparing with experimental data of positron annihilation rate,a relation between electron density and positron annihilation rate,and an expression of enhancement factor were obtained.
2.The electronic structures of the Cr~(3+)-doped and the Co~(2+)-doped yttria stabilized cubiczirconia crystals were calculated by using the spin-polarized self-consistent charge density dis-crete variant X_α(SCC-DV-X_α) method. The calculated values are in agreement with theexperimental values.
