2.Genetic algorithms can be used to solve the optimization problem that arises in capacity design of ATM bi directional rings. The global optimization capability of genetic algorithms is utilized to balance loads on ATM rings and minimize the ring capacity requirement. The problem is NP complete when demand splitting is not allowed.
