1.In this paper, the Baiyinxile Ranch was selected as the study area. The land cover maps in 1987 and 2004 were produced by using of Landsat TM dada, the land cover map in 1965 was made by digitalizing the vegetation map produced by field survey in 1965. Based on the three maps, the changes of the land-cover and its pattern in the Baiyinxile Ranch from 1965 to 2004 were analyzed.
2.Based on the 1∶100000 landcover map of the Heihe river basin in 2000 and the global 25-type classification systems,the 30 s landcover map of the Heihe river basin(Heihe data for short) was brought out combined with the 1∶1000000 vegetation classification map,which is the same classification format with global 30 s landcover data(USGS data for short) brought forward by Loveland at the beginning of 1990′s.
3.Then,with 1:10 000 electronic map(the format is Tab of MapInfo Company),it finishes the update of 1:10 000 topographical map(the format is cover of ARC/INFO),especially updates road,residential area,vegetation,and river etc.
